Governor Newsom has requested a 12-month extension of FEMA disaster assistance for Eaton and Palisades fire survivors. If approved, eligible survivors could continue receiving support through July 9, 2027. On Friday, the EFC Housing Committee appealed to President Trump to approve the extension. EFRU also gave a statement highlighting the ongoing challenges faced by survivors with standing homes, including contamination concerns that many insurers still refuse to acknowledge, test for properly, or fully remediate.
