Final State Budget Push for the CARE Fund

The CARE Fund would provide direct public-health assistance to help fire survivors pay for testing and remediation of contaminated standing homes. Without this support, many families face an impossible choice between returning to an unsafe home and paying unaffordable costs out of pocket. The CARE Fund was not included in the Governor’s May Revision or the Legislature’s initial budget proposal. Final negotiations continue through July 1.
Action: Contact the Governor by July 1. Use the CARE Fund action page, call 916-445-2841, or submit a message through the Governor’s contact form. Share the request with other fire survivors and recovery partners.
