New questions about emergency-response coordination and accountability

An ABC7 investigation reports that a senior LA County Office of Emergency Management employee has filed a lawsuit alleging retaliation after raising concerns about the County's response to the Eaton Fire. The former County OEM employee previously alleged that a supervisor was asleep during a critical overnight shift as Altadena burned. He now claims his responsibilities were reduced, his workspace relocated, and he was excluded from leadership meetings after speaking out. The allegations have not been adjudicated; the county disputes elements of the account and says it will respond in court. Separately, a LA Times opinion republished by Government Technology examines the recent independent fire-response report and argues that longstanding interagency command lessons were not consistently implemented.
