Some Adults May Lose Full Medi-Cal Dental Coverage July 1

Beginning July 1, 2026, some Medi-Cal beneficiaries age 19 and older may lose full dental coverage because of immigration-status eligibility changes. The change does not apply to children under 19, former foster youth under 26, or pregnant individuals, according to the recovery guidance circulated this week.
Action: People who may be affected should contact their dental provider and Medi-Cal plan immediately and complete or schedule urgent treatment before June 30. Confirm individual eligibility directly with Medi-Cal or the provider before making care decisions.
