Today’s Costs Less Than Tomorrow: Survivors Come to Sacramento to Lobby for Support

KTLA News reports more than 80 Eaton Fire survivors traveled to Sacramento to demand urgent recovery action from state leaders. The survivor-led trip, organized by the Dena Rise Up coalition with participation from multiple survivor organizations, including EFRU, focused on five urgent priorities: passing AB 1642 to establish indoor wildfire contamination testing standards, advancing SB 878 for faster insurance payments, supporting SB 1301 to protect against insurance non-renewals, creating a $300 million CARE Fund for community rebuilding, and securing urgent housing relief that would require Southern California Edison to advance up to $200,000 per displaced household.
