Two Upcoming Wildfire Health Conferences Invite Researchers & Community Members – Open Abstract Submission
Two upcoming conferences will bring together researchers, healthcare professionals, environmental scientists, community advocates, and wildfire survivors to share findings, lived experiences, and solutions addressing the health and environmental impacts of wildfires.
Pediatric Health on a Burning Planet: Research, Resilience & Recovery takes place November 21, 2026, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., at Children's Hospital Los Angeles, with virtual participation available. Hosted by the Pediatric Firestorm TEAM (PFire), this transdisciplinary conference is open to the public, bringing together researchers, healthcare professionals, environmental scientists, community advocates, and wildfire survivors to participate in discussions about children's physical and mental health, environmental exposures, community resilience, and policy solutions. Abstract submissions are encouraged and may be up to 500 words, with up to two figures or tables. Attendance is free, including parking and meals for in-person participants.
The 2nd Annual LA Fires Conference takes place January 14, 2027, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., at UCLA Covel Commons. The event will connect researchers and fire-affected communities to advance understanding of wildfire exposures, health impacts, and recovery. Submissions are invited for research posters, five-minute lightning talks, symposiums, roundtables, and workshops. Proposals are reviewed on a rolling basis, with a November 23 submission deadline. General attendee registration is expected to open in November.
