Recorded July 20, this EFRU virtual town hall explains AB 1642 and AB 1795, what the bills mean for smoke-damage survivors, and how health-protective testing and clearance standards could affect homes, schools, workplaces, and businesses. The discussion also addresses current legislative concerns ahead of the August 13 Senate Appropriations hearing.
If AB 1642 and AB 1795 are signed into law, they could not be retroactive for current insurance claims, but there is possibility for AB 1642 to provide protective standards for renters and low income housing. “All loss by fire” still exists in current CA Insurance Code for Eaton Fire and Palisades Fire survivors to pursue through legal representation if insurers are not recognizing contaminant damage.
