Mortgage Relief and Insurance Transparency Bills Move Forward

AB 1847, which extends mortgage relief for Eaton and Palisades fire survivors, passed the Assembly and now moves to the Senate. The next step will be review in the Senate Banking and Financial Institutions Committee. Every Fire Survivor’s Network also reported that SB 877, SB 878, and SB 1301 passed the State Senate. SB 877 would require insurers to show policyholders the original loss estimate and any revisions preventing insurers from changing the amount internally without disclosure. SB 878 would make sure insurance payouts are timely and fair. SB 1301 protects homeowners from unfair insurance non-renewals.
