Property owners affected by the January 2025 LA fires may be able to access financial assistance through programs that help fund the repair, testing, and remediation of their homes as well as their soil recovery.

A program that provides grants to eligible homeowners to cover mortgage payments for 12 months up to $100,000 which may free up funds for the repair/rebuild of the home or soil recovery.

Provides grants to very-low and low-income homeowners to repair owner-occupied homes damaged by the Eaton Fire in Los Angeles County which can include testing and remediation. Currently these funds can only apply to the rebuild or repair of the house.

Eligible households can receive up to $10,000 in direct, non-repayable assistance, with funds paid directly to vendors or contractors for costs like insurance deductibles, smoke/soil remediation, contractor deposits, permitting fees, tree removal, and more.

 Federal disaster assistance can still be offered to renters or homeowners impacted by the LA Fires to assist with housing and recovery of the property, even if you were previously denied by FEMA. Those residents with insurance must provide proof of the exhaustion of their policy or denial to any further access of their policy.

Offers low-interest loans to homeowners, renters, nonprofits, and businesses of all sizes affected by California’s wildfires and straight-line winds. Funds may be used for home repair, remediation, testing, or rebuilding, as well as soil testing and remediation costs. It may require applying in person at 540 W. Woodbury Rd. Altadena, CA  91001 or Ronald Reagan Palisades Post 283, 15247 La Cruz Dr.Pacific Palisades, CA  90272.
Must apply no later than 6/30/26.

If your property was impacted by the Eaton Fire, you can speak to an attorney about filing a lawsuit against Southern California Edison for damages to recover any out of pocket expenses you incur with the recovery of your property.

Although SCE is currently offering settlement packages, you may be able to recover more if you are able to file a lawsuit and can wait for the litigation process to occur. The above financial support programs may offer assistance in the meantime.
