LOCAL SERVICES

Support Center

The Hub is a long-term recovery center in South LA designed as a wellness space, fulfillment center, and community hub for families rebuilding after disaster. Unlike traditional aid centers, it offers a shoppable, dignified experience with brand-new essentials, case management, mental health and wellness services, group programs (yoga, therapy, tech literacy), and soon, resource navigation. It represents IBTU’s shift from emergency response to long-term, trauma-informed recovery.

Eligibility requires proof of direct, ongoing wildfire impact. All adults must come in person for verification, and proof of relationship is required to receive items for dependents.

The Hub is currently closed and will reopen on Tuesday, August 12th. Regular operating hours are Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM. To learn more or make an appointment, go to https://www.itsbiggerthanusla.org/relief

This new initiative is part of the department’s ongoing commitment to community-based policing and increasing transparency and collaboration between law enforcement and the public.

Opportunity for Fire Survivors to Share Their Story

The California Department of Public Health is creating an interactive story map to share how climate change is impacting health across the state. They are seeking personal stories—especially from survivors of the Eaton Fire and other wildfires—highlighting experiences with wildfires, poor air quality, extreme heat, and related health risks. The project welcomes input from diverse and vulnerable communities, including older adults, pregnant individuals, people with disabilities, Native Americans, farmworkers, first responders, unhoused individuals, and those with chronic or climate-sensitive conditions. Participants will have final approval over how their stories are shared and will receive a $35 gift card. To participate, email Lauren.Oommen@cdph.ca.gov.

Youth Fire Stories Project
In Other People’s Shoes Productions, in association with Pacific Clinics, is creating a theatre piece to lift up the voices of young fire survivors in the community. They are seeking young people, ages 18 and under, who are interested in sharing their experiences and feelings in a safe environment. The finished work will be crafted from excerpts of these stories and performed by professional actors, with the goal of helping the community heal.
