Passport Replacement Fee Waivers After the Los Angeles Fires

The U.S. Department of State is waiving passport application fees through January 7, 2028, for eligible people whose passports were lost or damaged in designated Los Angeles fire disasters and who were not reimbursed by insurance or another source. But make sure to apply for your replacement passport before July 7, 2026 when the deadline for when the separate file-search fee waiver of $150 expires for those who have no proof of identification. Applicants generally need Form DS-5504, a new photo, and Form DS-64 identifying the disaster, affected address or location, and date of loss.
