Prepare Now for Rain, Flooding & Burn-Scar Hazards

LA County urges residents in fire-affected communities to prepare for winter storms, as burn-scar areas remain vulnerable to flooding, mudslides, rockslides, and debris flows. Residents should clear gutters and drains, identify evacuation routes, and sign up for emergency alerts. Free filled sandbags are available at the Altadena Fleet Maintenance Yard, 252 Mountain View St., through April 15, 2027, subject to availability and operational conditions. Separately, local volunteers offer appointment-based assistance with sandbag placement and gutter clearing for eligible Altadena households. Residents are encouraged to prepare before heavy rain arrives and follow official weather and evacuation advisories.
