●  CA Contractors State License Board  CSLB representatives will be at the EFC Collaboratory, 540 W. Woodbury Rd, on September 10 from 9 a.m.–5 p.m. No appointment is necessary. CSLB staff can help residents verify contractor licenses, review contract/payment questions, understand homeowner rights and address complaints. Disaster-related home-improvement contracts should use a fixed price rather than “time and materials,” and the down payment generally cannot exceed $1,000 or 10% of the contract price, whichever is less. ●  LA County's Altadena Commercial Concierge and eCheck Rebuilding  offers individualized permitting and technical assistance for qualifying businesses, nonprofits and commercial property owners. A separate voluntary eCheck pilot allows qualifying fire-impacted single-family projects in unincorporated Altadena to upload PDF plans for an automated pre-check before formal permit submission.
