$15.7 Billion Federal Recovery Request for Eaton and Palisades Fires

LA Mayor Karen Bass and County Supervisor Kathryn Barger are urging Congress to approve $15.7 billion in federal funding for long-term recovery from the Eaton and Palisades fires. Their request follows similar appeals from Reps. Judy Chu and Brad Sherman and Sens. Adam Schiff and Alex Padilla, who have criticized the absence of LA wildfire recovery funding in President Trump’s $87.6 billion supplemental spending proposal. The requested funding would support critical infrastructure repairs, schools, parks, senior centers, housing assistance, financial relief, and the revitalization of local business corridors. The lawmakers are calling on Congress to include LA wildfire recovery funding in the initial version of any supplemental appropriations legislation.
