Save the Date: Standing Homes Town Hall on AB 1642 and AB 1795

Monday, July 20, 7PM EFRU will host a virtual town hall on AB 1642 and AB 1795, what these bills mean for smoke-damage survivors, and how residents can help before the August 13 Appropriations Committee vote. Both standing-home bills advanced from the Senate committees, but the path ahead is uncertain. AB 1642 would establish statewide, health-based requirements for testing, remediation, and clearance before occupancy after wildland-urban interface fires. AB 1795, however, continues to move forward without the promised written amendments on contaminant scope, wildfire causation, the presumed impact zone, and continues to include a trade-and-industry-standards provision allowing for sight and smell evaluations.

What happens next could determine whether smoke-damaged homes are evaluated through science-based testing or left vulnerable to insurer-controlled standards that fail to protect survivors.
Action: Register here for the Standing Homes Town Hall next week to share more on the status of the 2 bills.
