AB 1642 Clears Senate Appropriations and Heads to the Senate Floor

AB 1642, the EFRU-sponsored Wildfire Environmental Safety and Testing Act, passed Senate Appropriations on August 13 and is headed to the State Senate Floor. This is a major milestone — AB 1642 got this far because of YOU.

Whether you submitted your test results to the EFRU data maps, shared what we have been learning with your family, friends, and neighbors, made calls, sent emails, or posted on social media to help state legislators understand what fire survivors are actually facing with smoke damaged homes, this advancement is the result of all of us working together to move AB 1642 forward.

Together, we built the evidence and demanded real, science-based recovery standards from our government. That collective effort has carried AB 1642 through the Assembly and every Senate committee it has faced. On August 13, Senate Appropriations advanced the bill 5–0, sending it to the Senate Floor.

Action: Next stop — the State Senate Floor. Stay tuned over the next two weeks for information about the next round of legislative voting and how you can influence what happens.
