CalAssist Mortgage Fund Expands Eligibility

Eligible homeowners who own more than one residential or commercial property may now apply for help with the mortgage on their primary residence. Homeowners with a HELOC in first-lien position may also qualify. The program can cover up to 12 months of mortgage or eligible HELOC payments, up to $100,000, paid directly to the servicer. Homeowners who only own one property continue to be eligible. The combined income of all individuals listed on the mortgage cannot exceed the county income limit. Assistance is available whether the homeowner is current, in forbearance, behind on payments, or facing foreclosure. The assistance is free and does not have to be repaid.
