Disaster Case Management Still Faces a September 30 Shutdown
The Disaster Case Management Program serving Eaton and Palisades fire survivors remains scheduled to close September 30 unless additional federal funding is released. CA requested about $26M; FEMA approved roughly $13M, but had released only about $3M as of this week. Providers report 1,397 open cases, about 700 survivors waiting for help and 109 case-management and support positions at risk. Reps. Judy Chu and Brad Sherman and Sens. Adam Schiff and Alex Padilla are pressing FEMA to release the remaining approved funds and act on California’s supplemental request. The program helps survivors navigate FEMA and SBA assistance, insurance, temporary housing, rebuilding and other long-term recovery needs.
