Fire Survivors Push for Audits of Edison’s Wildfire Prevention Spending

A bill moving in Sacramento, AB 1774, would require independent audits of utility wildfire-mitigation spending before more ratepayer money is approved. Reporting and related coverage this week say the Assembly Utilities and Energy Committee passed the bill 11-0, and survivor advocates argued that Californians have been paying for wildfire prevention work without enough public accountability for how that money was actually used.
