Harabedian Mortgage Relief Bills Move Forward
Two wildfire mortgage relief bills from Assemblymember John Harabedian advanced out of Assembly Appropriations. AB 1842, the California Emergency Mortgage Relief Act, would create a statewide framework for mortgage forbearance when a borrower's primary residence is damaged or rendered uninhabitable by a declared emergency. AB 1847 would extend existing wildfire mortgage relief protections for families impacted by the LA fires. Both bills now move toward an Assembly floor vote.
