Help Document How Insurers Are Handling Smoke-Damage Claims

Every Fire Survivor’s Network (EFSN), with a UCLA research team, is building the nation’s first public record of how insurers are handling disaster claims, including smoke damage. EFRU wants strong participation from smoke-damage survivors so the data can show, insurer by insurer, what testing and remediation are approved or denied, how long claims take, how survivors are treated, and whether troubling patterns emerge. The findings can support regulatory enforcement, law enforcement investigations, litigation, investigative journalism and future advocacy, while also identifying insurers that are treating survivors fairly and effectively. Every experience matters, even when your insurer might have done right by you. No individual or household will be identifiable in public results.

Action: Take the 15 minute survey FireSurvey.org and help get insurance bad faith on smoke damage reported to the Office of the County Councel.
