LA County Launches Interactive Environmental Hazard Mapping Tool

LA County Public Health has launched a countywide interactive environmental mapping tool showing oil and gas facilities, industrial facilities, waste sites, Superfund sites, refineries, fuel terminals, landfills, dumps, recycling centers, Green Zones, census tracts, supervisorial districts, and other geographic layers. Unfortunately, the tool does not appear to acknowledge the contamination in Altadena and Pasadena caused by the Eaton and Palisades Fires, a significant omission for fire survivors trying to understand post-fire exposure risks. Still, it may be useful for residents who have temporarily relocated to other parts of LA County and want to better understand cumulative environmental hazards around temporary homes, schools, workplaces, and community spaces.
