UCLA Finds Gaps in Protections for Eaton Fire Recovery Workers
A UCLA analysis based on interviews with day laborers and outdoor workers involved in Eaton Fire cleanup and rebuilding documented recurring concerns about inconsistent protective equipment and safety training, informal hiring, lost income and immigration-enforcement fears. The researchers called for stronger labor oversight, comprehensive worker-protection plans, income stabilization and behavioral-health support during wildfire recovery.
