UCLA Study Shows Altadena Recovery Needs Extend Far Beyond Rebuilding
A UCLA Latino Policy and Politics Institute analysis of 1,253 verified GoFundMe campaigns offers a window into overlapping financial, housing and mental-health pressures reported by severely affected Altadena households. The median campaign sought $30,000, nearly nine in ten had not reached their stated goal as of June 2026, and many campaigns described housing instability or difficulty meeting basic needs. UCLA recommends more flexible household assistance, coordinated recovery systems and longer-term behavioral-health support.
