EFRU will be hosting Dr. Leslie Irvine, Professor of Sociology at the University of Colorado at Boulder and Director of CU's Animals and Society Certificate Program, to speak to our community about pets and how to best mitigate their risk after a disaster. Join Dr. Irvine as she shares her research on animal welfare in disasters where she will discuss:

  • What we know about animal welfare and vulnerabilities in disasters

  • Pet loss and lessons learned from the Marshall Fire

  • Policy and preparedness solutions and ideas for change
