EFRU Community Meeting on May 4: AB 1642, AB 1795, and the Fight for Safe Recovery Standards

EFRU will hold a Community Meeting on Monday, May 4 at 7pm to discuss the status of AB 1642, Assemblymember Harabedian’s Wildfire Environmental Safety and Testing Act, and AB 1795, the California Department of Insurance bill developed from the Smoke Claims and Remediation Task Force report. The meeting will cover current developments before both bills head to the Appropriations Committee, EFRU’s remaining concerns with AB 1795, and how AB 1795 may still conflict with the protections AB 1642 is designed to provide for policyholders, especially Eaton and Palisades fire survivors. Residents will also learn how to get involved, and those with personal stories about the Eaton Fire and the struggle to get their homes properly tested are encouraged to share them so decision-makers understand why these protections are necessary.
