Insurance Commissioner Notice: Additional Living Expenses for Unsafe or Uninhabitable Homes

Insurance Commissioner Ricardo Lara says Additional Living Expense coverage should continue when a home is uninhabitable for health and safety reasons, even if water or power are back. The notice says insurers must use due diligence and should keep ALE in place until the home is habitable, subject to policy limits and statutory timeframes.
