California Insurance Bulletin: Smoke Damage Claims and Insurer-Paid Testing
California’s Department of Insurance says recent court decisions did not erase smoke damage coverage. It also says insurers must investigate smoke claims fairly and, when professional testing is warranted, pay for it.
