New Resident Report: “Don’t Build Around Us. Build With Us.”
A new report from A Resilient Tomorrow and End Poverty in California documents recovery priorities identified directly by 53 Altadena residents during an April listening session.
Residents identified interconnected needs including financial assistance and direct recovery funding, protection against displacement, community ownership and affordable housing, environmental testing and remediation, FAIR Plan and insurance reform, infrastructure accountability, estate planning and transparent community participation in recovery decisions.
The report also describes the widening financial gap facing households attempting to rebuild and the particular pressures confronting renters, seniors, Black and brown families, people with disabilities and households already economically vulnerable before the fire.
