Show Up for Wildfire Survivor Restitution: SB 254 Hearings and AB 2700 Rally

Several state hearings this week will address the SB 254 study, utility-caused wildfire cost recovery, wildfire risk, resilience financing, and survivor restitution. These hearings matter because the policies that come out of this process could shape whether survivors receive fair, full, and timely recovery support or whether utility, insurance, and investor incentives continue to come first. EFRU has called out numerous flaws in the recommendations based on state savings and not on health and safety. Learn more here.

Upcoming hearings include Senate Energy, Utilities and Communications on Tuesday, May 12 at 9:00 AM; Senate Insurance on Tuesday, May 12 at 1:30 PM; Senate Emergency Management on Wednesday, May 13 at 9:30 AM; and Assembly Utilities and Energy on Wednesday, May 13 at 1:30 PM. Watch State Senate hearings here. Watch State Assembly hearings here.

A wildfire survivor rally and press conference is also planned for Wednesday, May 13 at 11:30 AM. Survivors and allied organizations are encouraged to attend, watch livestreams where available, and support AB 2700 and related wildfire survivor priorities.
Action: Sign the wildfire survivor restitution letter.
